After separating the fingers, the child's web space will be adjusted to the proper position. However, during the recovery process, due to scar tissue contraction, the web space may start to creep upwards. Therefore, pressing on the web space every night can help improve this condition.
Wait until the child's wound has fully healed before starting this, as doing it earlier may affect wound recovery. Make sure to press on the web space every night without skipping for any reason.
First Step
The procedure is simple: take a piece of gauze, not too long, and press it gently on the web space between the child's fingers, just enough to hold it in place without creating too much tension, as this could make the child uncomfortable.
After placing the gauze, secure it with a bandage to prevent slipping. If the child's hand is too small and the gauze is hard to secure, you can use an appropriate adhesive tape, but make sure the child isn't allergic to it.
Second Step
Once the bandage is secure, the surrounding skin will have more slack, which can counteract minor web creep. This is beneficial for the child's recovery.
